Bodies in Translation
A Performance Installation in the works
Bodies in Translation bridges movement research, artistic installation and contemporary dance through a 3 hour live Performative Installation.
The piece takes the form of a Choreographic Research Lab and ends as a a live performance.
The process develops a choreography from fragments of human communication, exploring dialogue between two performers from different cultural backgrounds.
The project explores how communication translates into movement, and how everyday life becomes choreographic through the interplay of language, ritual, and performance.
Social experiences are inscribed in the body and made visible through movement. The live installation occupies the entire theatre space, transforming it into a living, performative archive in which the audience is invited to move freely, observe, and interact with both the space and the performers. In interaction with the audience, the space emerges as something constantly shifting and reconfigured through movement. The audience becomes part of a physical archive of culture, revealed through gestures and patterns of behaviour.
Rooted in the cultural heritage of its choreographers, the project explores the connections, contrasts, and shared spaces between Japan and Germany.
